A Danish MEP was cut off after telling Donald Trump to “f*ck off” in an impassioned speech over Greenland. European Parliament Member Anders Vistisen spoke at the European Union amid escalated plans by Trump to make Greenland the 51st state.
Vistisen spoke in English for much of the speech, but was chastised by the speaker for his use of adult language when making his feelings clear. Then, he briefly continued his speech in Danish before being fully cut off.
Donald Trump wants the USA to take over Greenland
“Dear President Trump, listen very carefully. Greenland has been part of the Danish kingdom for 800 years,” the MEP said. “It is an integrated country. It is not for sale.”
He continued what would be the end of his speech with some very clear – although coarse – language. “Let me put this in words you might understand: Mr. President, f*ck off.”
Trump has only ramped up his plans to make Greenland a U.S. territory in the new year. On January 7, Trump said it was “psychologically important” to him to create a new 51st state out of the European country.
Additionally, he added that a complete takeover would include advantages for the military. “Ownership gives you things and elements that you can’t get from just signing a document, that you can have a base,” he added.
The President was adamant that the takeover would happen with or without the consent of Greenland’s people. “We are going to do something on Greenland, whether they like it or not,” he said. “If we don’t do it, Russia or China will take over Greenland, and we’re not going to have Russia or China as a neighbor.”
“My own morality. My own mind. It’s the only thing that can stop me.”
