Season 10 of Queer Eye just dropped on Netflix, but we’re all more preoccupied with this Karamo Brown drama. In case you missed it, the Fab Five’s “culture” expert suddenly dropped out of several press appearances with his castmates. He also just unfollowed most of them on Instagram, reigniting those old rumors that the Fab Five might not be so fabulous behind closed doors.
Karamo Brown dropped out of press with the other Queer Eye cast members
The latest Queer Eye drama started first thing in the morning on January 20, the day before their final season premiered. Karamo was set to appear on CBS Mornings along with the rest of the Fab Five, Antoni Porowski, Jeremiah Brent, Tan France, and Jonathan Van Ness. However, he dropped out just an hour before the appearance. His team sent a statement for host Gayle King to read aloud on air.
“I hope everyone remembers the main theme I have tried to teach them over the past decade, which is to focus on and to protect their mental health/peace from people or a world who seek to destroy it; which is why I can’t be there today,” Karamo’s statement read.
The same thing happened later in the morning, when the group had an appearance scheduled on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle. Karamo was MIA, but his reps sent another statement saying that he felt “mentally and emotionally abused for years.” He also sent a video message, thanking fans, Queer Eye’s crew, and everyone but his castmates.
Karamo said, “Just like the themes of this season, I’m modeling what I believe is most important, which I want to remind you all, love yourselves and protect yourselves. That’s why I’m here at home and not there.”
As the chaos unfolded on daytime TV, internet sleuths noticed that Karamo also unfollowed almost all of this castmates. After ten seasons together creating heartwarming TV, Karamo unfollowed original Fab Five members Tan, Anthony, and JVN. For now, he still follows Jeremiah.
Of course, this isn’t the first time fans have seen the Fab Five on shaky ground. In 2023, Bobby Berk left the show, and rumors suggested that friction with Tan led to his departure. Those rumors intensified when Netflix hired Tan’s friend Jeremiah to take Bobby’s spot.
At this point, it’s only a matter of time before one of these guys releases a tell-all book about the horrors of filming this show. Either way, the latest drama put a dark cloud over what could have been a triumphant farewell season.
