Meghan Trainor and Daryl Sabara just made their family a little bigger — and they revealed that their two sons helped choose their new baby’s middle name as they introduced their daughter to the world. Trainor and Sabara welcomed their third child, a baby girl, via surrogate on January 18. The pop star shared the news in a January 20 Instagram post, announcing their daughter’s full name and giving credit to the person who carried her.

Taking to her Instagram profile, Meghan Trainor shared how she welcomed her and Daryl Sabara’s newborn baby girl, including the story behind her middle name. She wrote, “Our baby girl Mikey Moon Trainor has finally made it to the world thanks to our incredible, superwoman surrogate,” adding that the decision came after careful medical talks.
Trainor continued, “We are forever grateful to all the doctors, nurses, teams who made this dream possible. We had endless conversations with our doctors in this journey and this was the safest way for us to be able to continue growing our family.” Moreover, the baby’s middle name, Moon, came from Mikey’s big brothers. Trainor revealed, “Riley and Barry have been so excited, they even got to choose her middle name.”
The “Made You Look” hitmaker has spoken for years about wanting a bigger family, including in a 2021 cover interview with PEOPLE, where she said, “I’m ready for three more kids!” Additionally, she later shared how motherhood changed her during her second pregnancy. In 2023, she told PEOPLE, “Each kid’s going to bring a new version of me that I think is going to be badass — so I need four, at least!”
Furthermore, in a February 2025 PEOPLE feature, Trainor revealed that she had her heart set on expanding the family, stating, “I always wanted a family. Check. Now I need some daughters.” And now, with baby Mikey Moon and her brothers already proudly involved, Trainor seems to have what she wanted for so long.
