Andy Cohen defends Bad Bunny after halftime show
After the Super Bowl, there was a surge of backlash about Bad Bunny‘s performance at the NFL Super Bowl halftime show. Previously, conservatives hit out at the NFL for hiring Bad Bunny, whose songs do not have English lyrics. As a response, conservative non-profit Turning Point USA (TPUSA) produced the All-American Halftime Show, an alternative concert headlined by Kid Rock.
Soon after the performance, many users took to social media platforms like Threads to criticize Bad Bunny’s performance, as per a Variety report. One user, for instance, wrote, “NOT ONE WORD OF ENGLISH FROM Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX Full halftime performance!! How disgraceful American sports have become, especially in the year of our 250th Anniversary!! I did not watch, and I have no plan to watch in the future!!”
Cohen replied to this, “Lynda, your bangs are begging for help. Oh, and that’s Lady Gaga singing in English,” referring to the portion that the user had posted featuring Lady Gaga.
Another user posted the Bad Bunny lyrics in English and wrote, “For all those who are not fluent in Spanish here are the lyrics in english for his opening song. It’s a shame and honestly makes me sick the NFL promoted this junk.” Cohen responded, “Now let’s read Kid Rock’s lyrics,” referring to The All-American Halftime Show.
“Wow. The ending of that Turning point concert. Kid Rock has me fighting back tears. Such a powerful message,” one user wrote about the other concert. Cohen responded, “Me too. The idea that I can wear jorts while looking like a prune gives me hope about getting older! Kinda getting misty just typing it.”
The iconic host also addressed Donald Trump’s response to Bad Bunny’s performance, saying, “Was there ever a moment in history when the President’s opinion of the Super Bowl Halftime Show was relevant?”
The debate surrounding Bad Bunny’s halftime performance at Super Bowl 2026 continues on social media.
