Donald Trump’s Make America Great Again (MAGA) slogan has been embraced by many people, but according to Don Lemon, not as many as some believe.
The journalist who was arrested in a hotel lobby last month noted that the President’s approval rating in a recent poll is incredibly low. He pointed out a Washington Post story which suggested 60% of people disapproved of the real estate mogul ahead of his State of the Union address.
Don Lemon says MAGA is “not as big as you think”
The numbers in that poll are quite telling, according to Don. The former CNN journalist says that his slogan and those supporting him are more bark than bite. “MAGA is not as big as you think, they’re just loud and boisterous,” says Don.
Don’s show has made waves among those who work closely with Donald in the White House. Prior to his arrest, the Department of Justice put him on notice after he’d live-streamed a protest in Minneapolis following the controversial ICE killing. Don defended the move, calling it an “act of journalism.” Prominent singer Nicki Minaj, a public supporter of the President, has called out Don, making homophobic slurs online to the openly gay journalist.
Don has been charged with conspiracy to deprive rights and interfering with religious freedoms. It’s alleged that he obstructed someone’s First Amendment rights by force. Don pled not guilty to the charges in court this month.
The President’s disapproval rating follows many other poor showings from Trump in recent polls. A CNN poll revealed this week that he has the lowest approval rating among any two-term President this century. His numbers ranged from -14 to -26, while his numbers among independents went as low as -47. That’s said to be the worst for someone heading into a State of the Union address this century.
