Teacher Caught up in Nancy Guthrie Disappearance Speaks Out After Online Sleuths Targeted Him

An elementary school teacher is addressing the accusations against him in relation to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. The mother of famed Today Show co-host Savannah Guthrie has been missing for over three weeks. Police and the FBI have put together a character description of the alleged suspect after uncovering doorbell camera footage from Nancy’s home.

That led the FBI to Dominic Evans, a 5th-grade teacher. The 48-year-old recently discussed his ties to the Guthrie family and Nancy.

Authorities are leaving no stone unturned in Nancy’s case, and it appears are questioning anyone who may be associated with her. In an interview with The New York Times, Dominic says that the FBI targeted his home after discovering video footage of an alleged suspect in front of Nancy’s door. He says that he’s been the subject of online accusations as a result.

Dominic believes that there’s one reason he was questioned about Nancy’s disappearance. He says that he’s in a band with Tommaso Cioni. Tomasso is married to Nancy’s daughter Annie. Dominic admits that he’s met the mother of three once before, but that’s as far as his association with her goes. “I feel like someone’s taken my name,” said Dominic about the questioning he was subjected to. He adds that “there are innocent people that get hurt,” in situations like what he faced.

He is not the first person who has been questioned by authorities since Nancy went missing. A man was stopped and questioned about her earlier this month before his release. He said that he had no idea who Nancy or Savannah were.

According to Dominic, his facial features were compared to those of the masked person in Nancy’s surveillance footage. Online he says that people have brought up his past. He was previously convicted of drunk driving and had also been arrested for an apparent bar theft in 1999. He says that he and his wife, Andrea, were too scared to pick up their two youngest children from their grandmother’s house recently. This was because of the number of people surrounding his home the day the photos came out.
