School comes first for Caroline Harvey, even before the President. The woman who helped lead Team USA to a gold medal in women’s hockey at the Olympics this month was asked whether the team would be coming to the White House. Donald Trump said they would at his State of the Union address this week.
In an interview on Thursday, Caroline said that that all the players are either back in college or with their respective hockey teams. If an invite were to come, she would probably decline. She says that her primary focus is on finishing her schooling and helping Wisconsin win the national championship.
Caroline Harvey isn’t interested in meeting President Trump
Going to the White House is anything but top of mind for Caroline. In an interview with CNN’s The Story Is With Elex Michaelson, she said, “I‘m just busy right now with school.” When asked if there was a White House visit in store for the women’s team, she said, “I‘m not sure.”
The President hasn’t exactly ingratiated himself with the women’s team since their Olympic journey ended with the gold. Donald called the American men’s team shortly after they defeated Canada in overtime to capture gold themselves. He drew backlash for telling the men that he’d have to bring the women to the White House with them. If he didn’t invite the women’s team, he said that he probably “would be impeached.”
Caroline was a major reason the US women’s team captured Olympic gold for a third time. The New Hamphire-born player was named the tournament MVP, scoring two goals and seven assists on route to winning the gold. She was also named to the Media all-star team and won the Directorate Award as Best Defender.
She has had a decorated career already in hockey, helping the American women win a world championship last year. Caroline was previously a part of the team that won a world title at the U-18 level in 2018. In 2023, she won the Bob Allen Women’s Player of the Year Award.
