Kate Chastain Calls Out House of Villains Cast Member for ‘Mansplaining’

Peacock’s House of Villains is the most unserious reality show on the air right now, and Kate Chastain’s feud with Johnny Middlebrooks is the perfect example. The two are feuding because Kate made a flippant remark about JoJo Siwa. Johnny came rushing in to defend her, and we’re obsessed with how bizarre it all is.

Kate and Johnny started locking horns in House of Villains Season 3 Episode 3 when Kate made an off-the-cuff comment about JoJo. She said it seemed strange how JoJo appeared on so many competition shows. In particular, Kate couldn’t wrap her head around why she’d do Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. Kate thought it was a sign that JoJo might be strapped for cash.

Immediately, Johnny jumped into the conversation, defending JoJo as if his life depended on it. He explained to Kate why JoJo might find value in the exposure from Special Forces and suggested that the paycheck might have been worth it. Kate didn’t want to hear any of that, and the two have been feuding ever since. Johnny even put Kate on the Hit List shortly after their spat.

Kate managed to save herself from elimination in Episode 4, but in a new interview with Decider, she said she’s still having trouble wrapping her head around Johnny’s “mansplaining.”

“What is this life?” Kate said. “I couldn’t believe that he was trying to explain that to me. He had no dog in this race. Why are you being difficult?”

Regardless of Johnny’s attempt at mansplaining JoJo’s career to Kate, the Below Deck alum is still convinced that JoJo could be running low on money. Kate suggested House of Villains Season 4 for her next money-grabbing adventure.

“She seems to love a competition show. She was in a desert with Tom Sandoval [in Season 2 of Special Forces]. Why not go to House of Villains?” Kate joked.

She continued, “I can’t imagine any other reason you would go out to the desert, where you don’t have a toilet. I hope to never reach that point in my life. Ever. But she’s in love now, so maybe they’ll both come to House of Villains.”

House of Villains is streaming on Peacock, with new episodes dropping on Thursdays at 9/8c.
