We may not have seen the last of Gilmore Girls. Fans of the popular comedy-drama series could soon get an inside look at the show, which starred Lauren Graham as an independent single mom raising her daughter in the fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut.
The show, which earned Lauren a Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal of Lorelai Gilmore, originally ended in 2007. It ran for seven seasons and is considered a cult classic today. Lauren is out promoting her new movie, Reminders of Him, which comes to theatres across the US on Friday. She is taking that opportunity to tease fans about another exciting project.
A Gilmore Girls book is in the works
Gilmore Girls is coming back again, this time on paperbacks and hardcover books. People reports that Lauren and the show’s creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, are collaborating on a novel about the series. Lauren admits they are “not super far” into the project. That’s because the two have been busy with other projects. That said, Lauren is confident that once the two get to spend more time together, things will flow.
We might not see a Gilmore Girls book released soon, though, for Lauren, it’s surreal that something is in the works. She says that 25 years ago she wouldn’t have believed Amy and her could get to a place where she’d be interested in working with her on a project like this. For Lauren, “that’s a win.” The book will share behind-the-scenes stories during the run of the popular show.
After Gilmore Girls first ended in 2007, Netflix picked up the series for an additional four 90-minute episodes in 2015. Lauren discussed the show in her 2016 memoir, Talking as Fast as I Can, as well as the Netflix revival, A Year in the Life. No word yet on when we can expect her Gilmore Girls novel to be released.
Lauren experienced a huge high in October 2025. The Honolulu-born actress got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Many of her Gilmore Girls co-stars were on hand for the ceremony.
