Arguably more famous than Kim Kardashian herself is her sex tape with Ray J. Many fans claim it to be the reason she became known worldwide. There’s also been long-standing speculation about who actually released the sex tape … and why. Now, Kris Jenner is speaking out about the rumor she leaked the tape to make Kim famous.
Kim Kardashian’s mom denies leaking her daughter’s sex tape with Ray J

To recap, in October 2025, Kim and Kris filed a defamation lawsuit against Ray J. This came after he alleged the duo had “repeatedly engaged in a criminal enterprise and racketeering activity.”
A month later, Ray J sued the pair himself. In legal documents, he claimed Kim and Kris were the ones who leaked the controversial sex tape in May 2007. In response, Kris said the claim is “absolutely false,” per a court filing seen by Radar Online,
Kris – who is the manager of all six of her kids – went on to deny the suggestion that she “orchestrated or produced sex tapes.”
Commenting directly on the “deeply offensive and harmful” rumor that she was involved, Kris said it had “haunted” her for decades. “In no world would I ever be involved in any way, shape or form of peddling tapes of my daughter like this,” she stated.
In her contribution to the filing, Kim also denied any involvement. “[Ray J’s] claim that I had a plan with my mother and others to release a sex tape, defraud the public, and file a ‘fake’ lawsuit against the adult movie company that released it to ‘create buzz’ is a lie,” she said.
Speaking to TMZ afterwards, Ray J accused Kim and Kris of lying in their declarations. “The fact of the matter is, if you lie like that under oath, don’t you go to jail?” he said.
