He may be known for instilling fear in others on screen, but Robert De Niro has at least one thing he’s terrified of. The Cape Fear actor hasn’t minced words regarding Donald Trump, and now he’s issuing another message to Americans about him.
The Oscar winner admits that he is “scared” for the country with Donald in power. He alleges that there has been a dangerous escalation of power in his second term as President. Among the things he’s upset about are the enforcement operations and National Guard deployments in cities like Minneapolis.
America’s future has this Hollywood A-lister concerned
The United States under Donald Trump’s rule should put Americans on edge. At least that’s Robert’s belief, which he shared on the No Kings 3 Kickoff call Thursday. He says among the things that scare him is that for him “our government is trying to do, to take away our right to vote.” Among the things he notes as shady are nationalizing elections, hijacking the state’s voter rolls and making everyone re-register with original birth certificates.
The No Kings 3 movement is a nationwide action protesting government actions. Among the things they’ll be speaking out against this month are ICE-related deaths. Those border agents have taken a lot of heat since shooting Renee Nicole Good, a mother deemed to be a domestic terrorist. In February, Robert gave an emotional speech asking Americans to stand up against the President. He also gave a State of the Swamp address following Donald’s State of the Union address.
Robert is accusing the Trump administration of intimidation to maintain its power. While he acknowledges that the President has, for him, done many unspeakable things, he’s focusing on voting. He says the reason is that “our vote is our power.” He urges people to attend the No Kings non-violent demonstration on March 28.
