We know everyone has been waiting with bated breath to hear Bethenny Frankel’s hot take on Taylor Frankie Paul’s majorly screwed-up season of The Bachelorette. The wait is over. Bethenny has spoken, and according to her, ABC’s multi-million dollar Bachelorette crisis is just another example of the “reality reckoning.”
The Bachelorette has been axed on ABC
ABC announced this week that they were shelving Taylor’s already filmed season of The Bachelorette. The final straw was a disturbing video showing Taylor attacking her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, back in 2023.
Of course, we all knew about this domestic violence incident. They documented the aftermath on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. With that in mind, Bethenny is struggling to wrap her head around ABC’s last-minute decision to cancel The Bachelorette.
“They knew about her domestic violence past, and apparently they cast her as the first non-Bachelor nation person, and they wanted the controversy and the redemption, so now they’re re-trading on that because the video was made public,” Bethenny said.
She continued, “I mean, a picture’s worth a thousand words, and audio’s worth a thousand words, but if someone was already involved in domestic violence, why would they cast her?”
According to Bethenny, ABC’s decision to elevate Taylor is just another example of reality TV’s low moral standards. She said the genre “thrives on conflict, negativity, substance abuse, physical abuse, bankruptcy, DUIs, incarcerations.”
“So whenever people say, ‘Whatever happened to the reality reckoning?’ I say, the reckoning still continues,” Bethenny claimed. “I hear examples of it all the time.”
“The reality reckoning is and has been real and continues, because there are a lot of things going on legally that you haven’t heard of,” Bethenny continued.
While ABC wades through its Bachelorette mess, Bethenny suspects that the real tea will come out when reality TV crews start speaking out about what they’ve witnessed behind the scenes.
“And watch what happens with the crews,” Bethenny concluded. “Mark my words. You’re welcome.”
The Bachelorette is streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
