Grace Lilly from Southern Hospitality has been in the news quite a bit due to her two arrests in three months. In the latest season of the popular reality show, fans saw Grace talk about her substance abuse struggles and how her friend Maddi Reese was one of the only people who knew about it. That’s why Maddi will never give up on Grace, no matter how rocky the road gets.
Maddi Reese is supporting her co-star, says Joe Bradley
Joe Bradley talked about his girlfriend and Grace’s special friendship when he spoke with DECIDER. He said the news of Grace’s arrests were “upsetting” for him and Maddi due to his girlfriend’s long history with Grace.
“They were OG best friends way before I even moved to Charleston,” Joe shared (at the 6:48 mark). “They were a dynamic duo.”
It must have been hard on Maddi seeing her friend get arrested last year. The officers found “Happy Pills” in her possession, and Grace couldn’t produce a prescription. It turns out the pills were clonazepam (known as Klonopin). This led to her second arrest this March on one charge of possession of a controlled substance.
“I just feel like it’s a really hard journey that Grace is on right now,” Joe said. ‘We talk about it every day and how we can be there for her as a friend. When it comes to this journey, a lot of times you have to do it on your own, which is the most heartbreaking thing.”
Maddi, who has been sober for over 10 years, feels the most empathy for her friend. In the latest episode of the show, Maddi talks about how much love she has for Grace despite their arguments. In the same episode, Grace meets with a sobriety coach for the first time.
Joe admitted that despite the fights, Maddi will never give up on her Grace.
“No matter how many times Grace says mean things to us, hurtful things, we are still going to be in her corner,” he admitted. “I got a point where I was like, ‘Enough is enough, Maddi, you should probably cut ties with your friendship with her.’ But Maddi will never give up on her.”
Southern Hospitality airs every Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo. It streams on Peacock.
