Love Is Blind Star Wins $25,000 in Baby Shower Lawsuit

A baby shower gone wrong just turned into a payday for Love Is Blind Season 1 alum Lauren Speed. She and Cameron Hamilton are one of the few success stories from the Netflix series, and they welcomed their first child in October 2025. However, the baby shower they had for their bundle of joy went off the rails, according to new court docs. Now, their event planner is on the hook for $25,000.

Lauren Speed-Hamilton took her event planner to court

TMZ got the details on this botched baby shower, which turned into a lawsuit. Lauren reportedly paid a woman named Marissa Lozada $13,315.73 to throw an extravagant baby shower. She expected a full-service, luxury event. It turned out to be everything but.

According to Lauren, the event started over an hour late. That was strike one. When she showed up, the decorations weren’t finished. She saw the event staff scrambling around the venue. Strike two and strike three.

When the Love Is Blind alum confronted Marissa over the missed expectations, Marissa reportedly failed to make things right. Instead, she shifted the blame and downplayed just how screwed up the shower had become.

One month after the event, Lauren sent a demand letter asking for a 40% refund of what she paid. Allegedly, Marissa refused to give her any of the money back, which is how this ended up in court.

Now, a judge has ordered Marissa to pay Lauren damages in addition to her attorneys’ fees. She’s been ordered to pay $25,000, nearly twice what Lauren originally paid.

After the judgment, Marissa spoke to TMZ and seems to be interested in fighting back against the judgment. The baby will probably have its first birthday before Lauren gets her hand on this cash.

Marissa said, “I am aware of the claims that have been filed and am actively addressing them through the legal system. While I cannot comment on specific details at this time, I strongly disagree with the allegations and look forward to resolving this matter appropriately. I appreciate the opportunity to have the full context brought to light.”

Love Is Blind is streaming on Netflix.
