Why RHORI Cast Were ‘Skeptical’ of Bachelor Star Ashley Iaconetti

The Bravo-verse is gearing up for the premiere of the newest housewives franchise, The Real Housewives of Rhode Island. The series looks incredible, and these ladies look like they came ready to play. In addition, Bachelor alum Ashley Iaconetti is part of the RHORI cast.

Of course, Ashley met her husband, Jared Haibon, on Bachelor in Paradise. The couple shares two sons. Plus, Ashley is known for being dramatic and dissolving into tears. It’s sort of her trademark.

Meanwhile, rumors started to swirl that Ashley joined the show when she was spotted filming with RHORI cast member Jo-Ellen Tiberi.

So, how did Ashley fit in with the RHORI cast? “Just in general, and I think this group made me believe it even more, they are super weirded out if you’re not from Rhode Island. They cannot place you,” Ashley told PEOPLE. “This cast was so skeptical of me, and they did not give a crap about the fact that I’d been on reality TV or anything like that before. They were skeptical of me because I wasn’t from Rhode Island.”

She continued, “I would like people to recognize me as being the same old Ashley, but at the same time, being like, she’s a more mature, evolved Ashley. We saw single Ashley, and now we’re seeing married-with-kids Ashley.” In addition, her co-stars brought a different energy than Ashley was used to on The Bachelor.

“They definitely have a different personality than I’m used to. They’re a lot more rough around the edges, a lot less filtered,” Ashley remarked. “They’ve got stuff going on, I’ll say that. They put shame to calling a Bachelor season dramatic.”

Plus, Real Housewives of New Jersey star Dolores Catania, who appears in a friend role, called the RHORI cast, “Unfiltered, to the max.” Fingers crossed this series delivers what Real Housewives fans have been missing in some of our favorite franchises.

The Real Housewives of Rhode Island premieres Thursday, April 2, on Bravo. It streams the next day on Peacock.
