Prince Philip reportedly called Meghan Markle ‘the American,’ claims royal author

Prince Philip reportedly gave his grandson Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, a two-word nickname, which was “The American.” As reported by The Mirror, royal historian and author Hugo Vickers claimed in his new book that the late Duke of Edinburgh “would simply refer to Meghan Markle as ‘The American.'”

Meanwhile, per the news outlet, the royal author also claimed that the Queen had “torn Meghan off a strip” once after the Duchess of Sussex behaved rudely to one of the royal gardeners.

In the meantime, according to the news outlet, the late Prince Philip previously drew comparisons between a “controversial” member of the royal family from an earlier era and Meghan Markle. The late Duke of Edinburgh privately referred to his grandson Prince Harry’s wife as “DoW.” It was reportedly late Prince Philip’s code for “Duchess of Windsor.” It was allegedly a reference to Wallis Simpson.

According to the news outlet, Ingrid Seward, a royal expert, said on GB News that the late Prince Philip thought Meghan Markle had an “uncanny” resemblance to Wallis Simpson. The expert allegedly claimed, “He wasn’t simply referring to the fact that both were pencil-slim, dark-haired and glamorous American divorcees.”

The person continued, “I think Prince Philip was very canny about people.” The royal expert further explained that the late Duke of Edinburgh “didn’t always see the bad in them.” “He tried to see the good in them,” also added Ingrid Seward, the royal expert.
