A new reality show is headed your way. Squatters focuses on people who make themselves at home in houses that don’t belong to them. It’s a more wide-spread problem than most people realize.
Flash Shelton is the man who helps homeowners reclaim their property. According to A&E, he employs “unconventional strategies” to maneuver the complex legal challenges surrounding property rights.
The new series will premiere on A&E in May
“Each episode follows urgent and emotional cases, from homeowners on the brink of losing everything,” A&E shared. Situations span from “a woman dealing with squatters living in her basement, to a couple whose brand-new home is occupied before they can even move in. Every case is a precise and thoughtful mission to bring homes back to their rightful owners.”
As for Flash, he first learned about squatters when strangers moved into his mother’s vacant California home in 2019. After finally reclaiming the home, he realized he could make a career of helping other property owners. Since then, he’s pursued a “broader mission” of performing over 100 interventions nationwide aiding other property owners, per A&E.
An A&E promo clip shows Flash telling a property owner that his team will “get your house back.” He promises to help them, even if there are “dangerous people inside.”
The team then uses a drone and knocks on the door to deal with the illegal occupants. “What the hell are you doing in my house?” a woman asks in the footage.
“This is not your house anymore,” Flash tells her.
Known as the “Squatter Hunter,” Flash travels all over the country performing “squatter removals.” When he removed his first squatter, he had “no idea” it would turn into what it is now.
“[I’m] glad that I’ve been able to bring awareness to the issue,” he shared. “Some people say I’m doing godly work. Others say I’m doing the work of the devil.”
Squatters premieres May 12 at 10/9c on A&E.
