During her visit to “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”, Anne Hathaway sounded like a fan who still cannot believe what happened to her at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert. Hathaway told Colbert she attended Swift’s Eras Tour in Germany while she filmed “Mother Mary.” She said that the concert came at the perfect time, because production had just wrapped the concert portion of the movie, and Swift happened to be playing three nights in Gelsenkirchen.

Speaking on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert about her experience at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert, Anne Hathaway said, “So like me and my family we went and it was amazing.” What stayed with her most was how Swift “makes the audience feel so loved,” and then admitted she got caught up in the moment herself.
Hathaway revealed, “She made me feel so loved.” She then joked about her own reaction, saying, “I’m like ‘Oh my god Annie you’re so cute you think Taylor Swift’s waving at you right now,’” when Swift waved at the audience in the crowd.
As it turned out, Hathaway’s instincts were not wrong. She told Colbert that someone tapped her on the shoulder mid-show and delivered a message from Swift. It was a note that confirmed Swift had spotted her in the crowd. Hathaway said the message read, “I’m so happy you’re here,” and “I’m going to be enthusiastically waving at you.”
Hathaway said she completely melted. She told Colbert, “I was like ‘oh my god she’s so magical,’” adding, “And I was right. I am special,” while laughing.
Swift’s influence shows up in “Mother Mary” itself. Hathaway explained that the team studied major pop tours while building her character, and she specifically mentioned Swift as part of that creative mix, explaining that filmmaker David Lowery drew from the Reputation tour for the concert scenes. Besides, Hathaway said she took inspiration from Swift’s “Miss Americana” film and the vulnerability Swift showed on camera.
