Meghan Markle is all set to make an appearance on MasterChef Australia while touring the country with her husband, Prince Harry. However, insiders have recently claimed that this is more than a TV cameo appearance. The former actress is allegedly planning to take off her cooking gloves and frame herself as a “relatable” foodie instead.
Meghan Markle ‘dreams of building an empire like Martha Stewart,’ per source
MasterChef Australia teased Meghan Markle’s cameo as a guest judge on Season 10 with a photo of her alongside judges Jean-Christophe Novelli, Poh Ling Yeow, and Sofia Levin. While some fans are less than enthused about this appearance, others are stoked.
A source told Woman’s Day, “Meghan absolutely loved being on that show. She’s been obsessed with cooking programs since she was a teen and even wrote about it on her old Tig blog. She’s watched food channels for years, so this really was a dream gig.”
However, the insider claimed that this was more than Markle fangirling over the competitive cooking reality show. “To be a permanent judge on a show like MasterChef is something she would leave California for, no doubt. She dreams of building an empire like Martha Stewart,” they said.
The Duchess of Sussex allegedly plans to look past the criticism she got for her cooking skills in “Love, Megan.” The source continued, “She knows she’s no top chef, but she wants people to see her as someone who loves entertaining and food. That’s why MasterChef appeals – she connects with the home cooks making mistakes.” Per Woman’s Day, sources have estimated that she could have earned $300,000 for her cameo on MasterChef Australia.
The insider also claimed that the real reason for the Australian tour is not just this TV appearance. “This isn’t just about a TV appearance,” they said. “Meghan’s mission Down Under is all about turning her brand As Ever into a billion-dollar global business. Australia is the perfect testing ground – big enough to matter, but small enough to crack.”
