Queen Camilla could reportedly have sent a hidden message by wearing the late Queen Elizabeth II’s brooch when she arrived in the U.S. alongside her husband, King Charles, for their official four-day state visit. On Monday, April 27, the King and Queen touched down at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. For her arrival, the Queen donned a chic coat dress from Dior in a delicate tone of light pink. However, the biggest highlight of her look was the dazzling brooch she pinned to her coat dress. The piece of jewelry belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The Cartier brooch features an American flag entwined with a Union Jack, representing the special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom. Robert F. Wagner, a former New York mayor, gifted this brooch to the late Queen Elizabeth II during her own very first official U.S. state visit as the Queen in 1957. According to Marie Claire magazine, the brooch showcases diamonds, emeralds, and rubies in a platinum setup.

In the meantime, as reported by GB News, the late Queen Elizabeth’s state visit to the U.S. took place at the peak of the Cold War. It reportedly reinforced friendship between Great Britain and the United States. Per the news outlet, by sporting this particular brooch, Queen Camilla could have been sending a pointed message regarding the significance of the special friendship between the U.K. and the U.S., especially in the wake of diplomatic tensions between the United States and the United Kingdom.
