MMA journalist calls out UFC boss Dana White over WHCD shooting reaction
MMA journalist berated UFC boss Dana White over his WHCD shooting reaction. Gunfire broke out on Saturday evening at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner held at the Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C. At approximately 8:36 pm, an individual carrying a gun attempted to breach Secret Service security. This resulted in chaos and pandemonium. However, there was no severe damage reported (via PEOPLE).
White spoke about his chaotic experience with USA Today. The UFC boss shared, “All of a sudden, it just started getting noisy. Tables started getting flipped over, guys running with guns, and they were screaming, ‘Get down!’” Furthermore, the 56-year-old shared, “I didn’t get down. It was f***ing awesome, and I literally took every minute of it in. It was a pretty crazy, unique experience.”
MMA journalist Ariel Helwani blasted White for his “psychotic” perspective on the traumatizing incident. Helwani discussed White’s reaction and said it was comparable to him and his kids enjoying a day out at a water park (via Wrestling Inc). He said, “Is it possible that he is that void of any sort of human emotion or excitement in his life at this point, it’s something like that that gets that type of reaction out of him? I was blown away.”
Continuing further, he shared, “The word psychotic came to mind. Because I can’t imagine having that type of reaction to a potential assassination. Now anyone out there is going to listen to this and say, ‘You’re a snowflake.’ A: That’s his friend. B: You’re saying, ‘Hey they told us to get down, I was like I’m not getting down, I was watching with popcorn.’”
