Donald Trump comments on King Charles and Iran war

Donald Trump recently made comments regarding King Charles’ stance on the Iran war at a state dinner, according to a report by The Guardian.

The King, as head of state, is expected to maintain a neutral stance on politics. However, in his remarks, Trump suggested that the King sides with his views on Iran amid the ongoing war. He stated, “We’re doing a little Middle East work right now … and we’re doing very well. We have militarily defeated that particular opponent, and we’re never going to let that opponent ever, Charles agrees with me even more than I do, we’re never going to let that opponent have a nuclear weapon. They know that, and they’ve known it right now, very powerfully.”

After Trump made the comments, a spokesperson from Buckingham Palace gave a statement in which they said, “The king is naturally mindful of his government’s longstanding and well-known position on the prevention of nuclear proliferation.”

Previously, Trump has claimed that the United Kingdom has been very “uncooperative” in relation to the Iran war. According to a report by Time Magazine, Trump called out British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in an Oval Office briefing and asserted, “He ruins relationships. We are very surprised. This is not Winston Churchill that we’re dealing with.” On the other hand, Starmer defended himself and conveyed, “We need to act with clarity, with purpose, and with a cool head. The protection of U.K. nationals is our number one priority. American planes operating out of British bases, that is the special relationship in action, hanging on to President Trump’s latest words is not.”
