Kylie Jenner’s Naked Illusion Dress Does Its Job Too Well at Met Gala

Kylie Jenner once again turned the Met Gala into her personal runway, arriving in a striking creation. She wore a design by Schiaparelli that blurred the line between fashion and art. The reality star and beauty mogul embraced a daring “naked illusion” concept, wearing a Schiaparelli corset custom fit.

The gown featured a heavily embellished, pearl-covered skirt with a train. The front of the dress gave the illusion of having slipped down, revealing a nude corset with faux nipples, a defined navel, and sculpted body contours. According to a press release, artisans spent nearly 11,000 hours on the embroidery, incorporating 2,000 satin-stitch elements, 10,000 natural baroque pearls, and more than 7,000 hand-painted pearlescent fish-scale details. Kylie Jenner elevated the look with diamond-and-pearl earrings and a matching collar necklace.

Jenner’s makeup artist, Ariel Tejada, experimented boldly, even testing a no-brow look before settling on bleached brows to keep the focus on the sculptural elements. Her hair was styled in waves with a kiss-curl sweeping across one eye.
