Beyonce and Nicole Kidman broke an age-old Met Gala rule by showing up at fashion’s biggest night with their daughters. The Grammy winner walked the white-and-green carpet with her 14-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy. Meanwhile, Kidman’s daughter Sunday Rose accompanied her Academy Award-winning mother to the star-studded event.
Beyonce and Nicole Kidman bring daughters to Met Gala and break age-old rule
According to HELLO! Magazine, there is an age restriction that allows only people above 18 to attend Hollywood’s biggest fashion night. As per the outlet, the organizers of this event have previously confirmed that “it’s not an appropriate event for people under 18.” However, Beyonce and Nicole Kidman broke that rule by bringing their daughters to the event.
Notably, the singer’s daughter, Blue Ivy, is only 14 years old. While Kidman’s daughter, Sunday Rose, is 17, she will be turning 18 in two months. Beyonce and Kidman were co-chairs this year, alongside Venus Williams. The co-chairs are responsible for planning and promoting the event, curating the guest list, and speaking at the gala.
The first Monday of May 2026 marked both Sunday Rose and Blue Ivy’s Met Gala debuts. Blue Ivy wore a custom white Balenciaga ensemble. It featured a corseted bodice and a high-low balloon hem skirt. She layered it with a matching white jacket and slipped into bejeweled silver heels. Her accessories included a diamond necklace and oversized sunglasses.
Meanwhile, Sunday Rose stunned in a custom pink Dior gown, designed by creative director Jonathan Anderson. The strapless piece had a bandeau-style neckline and a flowy skirt. The bodice featured oversized floral appliques. The skirt was dusted with smaller versions of the same appliqués. She paired it with matching earrings.
While speaking to La La Anthony during Vogue‘s livestream, Sunday Rose said that she wanted her look to symbolize “blooming” because this was her first Met Gala. Kidman praised her daughter’s calm demeanour, saying, “She’s been so calm through the whole thing.” She added that the teenager would have to attend school the next morning.
