Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will celebrate eight years of marriage next week, but as the anniversary approaches, they are reportedly moving in very different directions professionally. While insiders claim that the personal bond between them is intact, experts point to a widening gap between Markle’s commercial ambitions and Harry’s stubborn grip on a royal identity he feels is still his home. So as the Sussexes present a united front on social media, the paths they want to take look nothing alike.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘clearly heading in very different directions professionally,’ per expert
Richard Fitzwilliams exclusively discussed the reported gap between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry with The Express, touching upon Harry’s recent choices and noting, “Harry has always seen himself as more than just having a walk-on role in her cookery programmes.” Further pointing to the Duke’s trip to Ukraine, Fitzwilliams highlighted, “he chose to go days ahead of the King’s visit to the US.”
Fitzwilliams claimed, “There are no signs this relationship is failing,” adding that Markle “is obviously the much stronger of the two,” and that “they do really get along.” He also noted, “The personal relationship between them, I think, remains strong for now, but they are clearly heading in very different directions professionally.” He further explained, “They are most definitely on diverging paths and want different things.”
Author Alexander Larman, who wrote “The Windsors at War,” sees Harry as someone wrestling with regret. In that, he recalled Harry’s split from the royal family, noting that “Now his decision is looking a lot less clever than it once was.” He added that Harry is “looking lost in Montecito” while Markle has “certainly thrived” as an A-list celebrity.
Meghan Markle is now building “As Ever,” a brand rooted in lifestyle and commerce, while Prince Harry told reporters in Ukraine that he would “always be part of the royal family” and was “doing the very thing that I was born to do.” But as royal biographer Tom Bowers pointed out, “I think in the end he needs her and she needs him,” despite all the odds.
