Jimmy Kimmel Jokes About Stephen Colbert Fans’ Loyalty

Jimmy Kimmel recently called out the crowd watching The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. During a recent segment, Kimmel questioned the loyalty of Colbert’s viewers, making a playful dig at the fanbase’s devotion. The jab lands as the show prepares to conclude its run on May 21, 2026.

Jimmy Kimmel questions Stephen Colbert’s fans over their subscription after Late Show cancellation

Jimmy Kimmel has turned his focus to Colbert’s viewers, probing the loyalty that keeps fans subscribed to Paramount+ even after the cancellation of The Late Show.

As reported by The Wrap, the comedian made his comments during the Strike Force Five podcast reunion, joining Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, and John Oliver on Monday’s Late Show broadcast.

“The fact of the matter is, more people are watching late night television now than [ever before]… obviously Johnny Carson had a lot of people watching one show, but we have a lot of shows with like, 30,000 people watching each one, right?”Kimmel remarked while defending the relevance of late-night TV.

Kimmel highlighted that it adds up, noting that audiences now watch on YouTube and, despite having many different options, still keep coming back to them.

During that segment, Jimmy Kimmel singled out Colbert’s supporters, remarking, “And I will tell you, when I got knocked off the air for a few days, people canceled Disney+. Why aren’t you people canceling Paramount+? Because you didn’t have it in the first place?”

For context, many fans have said they intend to cancel their Paramount+ subscriptions once Colbert’s final episode airs, but plan to keep supporting him until the show ends.

John Oliver, host of Last Week Tonight on HBO, added in with a joke that his response would shift depending on the current state of the Paramount-Warner Bros. merger.

Kimmel and Oliver weren’t alone in their frustration about Colbert’s show ending. Jimmy Fallon weighed in too, saying it was “odd” how things went down for The Late Show host.

The Jimmy Kimmel Live! host further encouraged Stephen Colbert to let out “angry Stephen” and go all in during his final days on air.
