The Netflix special “The Roast of Kevin Hart” aired live on Sunday, bringing together a who’s who of comedy, music, and pop culture. Pete Davidson’s set emerged as one of the evening’s most discussed performances. However, a reported sighting of Kanye West in the audience during his joke added another twist to the spectacle.
Kanye West was reportedly present at Kevin Hart’s roast during Pete Davidson’s joke
Reports indicate that Kanye West attended “The Roast of Kevin Hart,” with viewers claiming to have seen him among the crowd during Pete Davidson’s set. The SNL alum took the stage at the Kia Forum in L.A. for “The Roast of Kevin Hart.” He began with a bit about comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, then pivoted and took a shot at Kim Kardashian’s other ex, Kanye West.
As seen in a video obtained by TMZ, Ye attended Hart’s roast on Sunday, May 10, with his wife, Bianca Censori. He was visible from behind in the crowd while Davidson made a joke referencing him as a “gay Nazi” during his brief roast of comedian Tony “Kill Tony” Hinchcliffe.
“Tony, nothing you say tonight will hurt my feelings. I was in a beef with Kanye so I’ve taken shots from better gay Nazis,” Davidson said.
However, Ye didn’t appear to have a strong reaction to the moment. He also didn’t seem to respond when Hinchcliffe later made a crude remark about Davidson’s past relationship with Kardashian that alluded to the rapper.
The night wasn’t all stoic expressions from West. He visibly cheered for Teyana Taylor, who headlined his 2016 “Fade” video and has since won a Golden Globe, as she delivered a surprise performance.
After years of public backlash, Ye took out a full-page ad in The Wall Street Journal earlier this year to address past antisemitic comments, issuing an apology and saying he hoped to “earn” back trust. Controversy followed him into 2025 with the release of “Cousins”, a track that was quickly pulled from platforms after criticism over its lyrics referencing childhood sexual abuse.
