There might be some uncomfortable conversations around the dinner table at the Osbourne household tonight. Jack Osbourne just defiantly said he thinks celebrities should stay out of politics … while standing next to his politically outspoken mom, Sharon Osbourne.
Sharon Osbourne isn’t afraid to let her political opinions be known
Jack and Sharon were spotted at Capitol Hill this week, but not on any official political business. Rather, they were celebrating Ozzy Osbourne’s biography being entered into the Congressional Record. Commenting on the gesture, they told TMZ the late musician would have been honored by it.
“He would have loved it,” Jack said of his late father. “He would have been truly honored to have been a part of it.”
Elsewhere in their chat with TMZ, the pair were asked about politics, which is no surprise, given their DC location. “Are you guys political at all?” the journalist asked. To that, Jack defiantly replied: “I think celebrities need to keep their mouths shut.”
“Make entertainment, entertain the people, and shut the f*ck up,” he continued.
The interviewer then pressed Jack on that, suggesting celebrities should use their platform for good when possible. “Then be a politician, don’t be an entertainer,” he pushed back, which is kind of awkward, considering how involved in politics his mom has been of late.
Sharon was recently on the receiving end of a lot of backlash after seemingly confirming her attendance at a controversial far-right rally in the UK. The move was highly critiqued on social media, and even prompted a homelessness charity to drop her.
That doesn’t appear to have done much to put Sharon off, however. During her and Jack’s meeting with TMZ, she put her hand up when asked if either of them would consider a career in politics.
