The Survivor 50 finale was too much for one contestant to handle. Tiffany Ervin was still in the running for the $2 million grand prize when the final episode began Wednesday in front of a live studio audience in Los Angeles. Throughout the day, she admits to being overcome by emotions.
Heading into the finale, she had been perhaps the biggest threat to win the game. She was extremely likable among the jury members in their eyes, with a strong chance of winning if she got to the end.
Tiffany knew what was to come in advance, but trying to keep it from the audience was no easy task.
Why Tiffany Ervin says she cried throughout the Survivor 50 finale

Holding her emotions in check is something Tiffany couldn’t do on finale night. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, she explains what was going through her mind as she fought back tears. “I just felt how much I gave to this game, and to come up one puzzle piece short, and we can’t spoil it.”
Tiffany narrowly lost the final five immunity challenge to Jonathan Young. Before that became known to viewers, Tiffany says that many fans were telling her she was their winner pick, which got to her even more. “Oh my God, I’m about to disappoint everybody,” Tiffany admitted, thinking in that moment.
While on stage after going out in fifth, though, Tiffany admits to feeling the exact opposite. Upon receiving a standing ovation, she says that all her doubts an inhibition went out the window. That showed her that audiences were just as proud of the game she played as she was.
“It was like a weight having lifted off my chest,” said Tiffany. During her exit interview on stage with host Jeff Probst, she admitted to feeling some imposter syndrome when selected for Season 50.
Tiffany’s exit from the show has drawn plenty of backlash. Notably, Benjamin “Coach” Wade appeared to give her the middle finger after she had her torch snuffed. Tiffany and Coach feuded throughout the season.
