Gavin Newsom Calls Donald Trump ‘Loser’ Over California Election Comment

Gavin Newsom has reacted dramatically to a recent comment by Donald Trump. In it, the US President boldly claimed that California is home to a slew of fraudulent activities, including elections. The former San Francisco mayor took to social media to hit back at Trump for questioning the integrity of his state’s voting process, going as far as to call him a “loser.”

Gavin Newsom labels Donald Trump as ‘loser’

On May 31, the official X (formerly Twitter) account of Gavin Newsom’s press office reposted a clip of Donald Trump berating California during an interview with his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump. The snippet had the President blasting California, stating that the state “is very fraud” and that its elections had no authenticity whatsoever.

Trump remarked, “I think we can balance our budget, and JD is doing a great job with his team. They found hundreds of billions of dollars of fraud, and they haven’t even gotten to California yet. California is very fraud. The whole thing is a fraud. The whole deal – their elections are a fraud, their mail-in votes are a fraud. But on an economic standpoint, if we find half of the fraud that is going on in this country – and we will – we’re gonna have a balanced budget very soon.”

In response to Donald Trump‘s contentious comments, Gavin Newsom issued a simple yet effective reply on X, writing, “No, you’re just a loser.”

During the interview, Trump also talked about the upcoming gubernatorial and mayoral elections in California. He once again endorsed gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton, before adding that a clean win in the state was an impossible feat for a Republican.

“You know, they don’t have voting booths. Everything’s by mail…I’m a friend of Steve, I think Steve is great, and I endorse him. But I know the system very well. I don’t think a Republican can win in California unless you pass the SAVE America Act. Then they’re gonna have to show proof of citizenship, they’re gonna have to get rid of their mail-in voting. No other country — France used to do it, and then ended it because it was rigged,” he exclaimed.
