AOC takes aim at Donald Trump after he appears to sleep at Knicks game
AOC, aka Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, took a jab at Donald Trump for seemingly sleeping during the recent Knicks game. Notably, Trump was seated alongside Knicks owner James Dolan as they attended Game Three of the NBA Finals on June 8 at Madison Square Garden (via The Daily Beast). Liberal commentator Joe Gallina tweeted in bold letters: “DONALD TRUMP HAS FALLEN ASLEEP AT THE NBA FINALS IN MADISON SQUARE GARDEN.”
In the video, President Trump is seen with his eyes shut, but suddenly jolts himself awake in the final few seconds of the video. The brief, 23-second video went viral on social media and garnered 126K likes, 15K reposts, 8.5K bookmarks, and 2.9K comments. AOC reposted the video with the comment: “WAKE TF UP.”
Notably, President Trump has been captured with his eyes closed during multiple public appearances since returning to the White House in January 2025. Interestingly, this incident comes only days after Trump was seen slumped in his chair, struggling to keep his eyes open in the Oval Office.
Moreover, in a post-game interview, President Trump declared he received an amazing response from attendees. Trump revealed, “I thought it was very good. It was certainly amazing. I think mostly cheers. It was loud. And it was very enthusiastic.”
However, the internet joined AOC in mocking Trump for seemingly dozing off during the Knicks game. One user commented, “Shut down half of New York, got the whole building booed, and then fell asleep. The most expensive nap in American history.” A second user quipped, “If he gets a medal every time he sleeps at work.”
