Jon Stewart recently joked that the ads at the UFC Freedom 250 event at White House accidentally mocked Donald Trump. The gathering was held on the South Lawn of the White House on the occasion of the President’s 80th birthday. An octagon was built on the lawn, and the entire event reportedly cost an estimated $60 million.
Jon Stewart jokes about Donald Trump and ads at UFC event
The veteran TV personality recently took a dig at the POTUS and the ads that were featured at the White House UFC Freedom 250 event.
The event featured numerous advertisements for Monster Energy drinks, which Jon Stewart joked seemed to taunt Donald Trump’s age. He said in his monologue on The Daily Show, “Monster energy drink? Is that really cool? Are we now just taunting the old man?”
The talk show host further joked that the commercials appeared to take a dig at Trump’s apparent sleeping incidents and asserted, “Pretty late night, Mr. President. Getting sleepy? Got an early negotiation in the morning? I bet you are not man enough to down a red, blue, and white Raspberry Snazzler!”
Additionally, Stewart slammed the UFC event for mocking the sport. He added, “What a god-awful mockery of an event that somehow managed to find a way to devalue both combat sports and our national dignity. Who even aired this embarrassing s**t?”
Apart from Jon Stewart, Bill Maher also fired shots at Donald Trump for holding the UFC event at the White House. He commented, “Our redneck President is turning 80, and to celebrate, there is a UFC fight on the lawn. So the emperor is holding gladiator games on his birthday” (via The Hill).
On the other hand, UFC boss Dana White called it a successful event and said, “It was an amazing experience; this was a one-of-one.” However, per ESPN, he further shared that the event would be difficult to hold again. White stated, “I can’t afford it. I’ll never do the Sphere again, and we’ll never do this again.”
Held on June 14, the UFC Freedom 250 event saw over 4,000 guests in attendance, including VIPs, military members, and more.
