A source told Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice that the duchess allegedly expected an invitation to the pop star and Travis Kelce’s upcoming wedding. They claimed that it was “never just about attending the wedding,” but more about “getting closer” to the bride-to-be.
“Right now, nobody has more cultural influence than Taylor Swift, and Meghan has wanted that connection for years,” the insider said. Reportedly, Markle had tried to reach out to Swift in the past through handwritten notes. But nothing worked in favor of the mother of two. According to another source, Markle allegedly thought that Swift “could elevate her status and open doors.”
However, the “Enchanted” hitmaker never reportedly accepted Markle’s way of friendship. An insider mentioned that Swift has been known for being “selective” when it comes to friends. She “values loyalty and genuine relationships.” Therefore, Swift “keeps distance” from those who approach her seeking “access” to the industry.
