Kash Patel’s Girlfriend Slams Backlash Over Freedom 250 Gig

Alexis Wilkins, the girlfriend of FBI Director Kash Patel, has responded to the backlash over her performance at the Great American State Fair’s Freedom 250 gig on June 24, in which several artists withdrew due to the organization’s ties to the Donald Trump administration.

The independent country music artist pushed back against the claims, saying they were “false narratives” and “sham accusations” that undermined her hard work.

Alexis Wilkins responds to allegations that her Freedom 250 booking was influenced by Kash Patel

On June 23, the 27-year-old singer announced her participation on X, writing, “What a great honor to be a part of the 250th birthday of this great nation!” However, the comments section was soon flooded with questions over whether Wilkins earned the opportunity on her own merits or through her relationship with Patel, whom she has been dating since 2023. A user wrote, “The best they could get is a failed country artist that just so happens to be the FBI director’s girlfriend.”

Addressing the criticism, Wilkins, who began releasing music in 2020, issued a detailed response, saying, “I have been a country music artist for years now. I have had a successful career in both music and commentary/strategy. People don’t get to negate that for clicks or headlines. I was invited to sing this anthem on my own accord, as I have been in many other places throughout my career.”

She also clarified, “I am not accepting payment for this great honor,” adding, “I’m no longer accepting false narratives and total sham accusations that diminish my hard work and earned accomplishments, so please expect this kind of response to continue.”

On May 27, ahead of Wilkins’ performance, the official website of Freedom 250 announced the first round of its star-studded lineup. The list included Martina McBride, Young MC, C+C Music Factory, Vanilla Ice, Milli Vanilli, The Commodores, Morris Day & The Time, Flo Rida, Bret Michaels, and others.

Following the announcement, the country music superstar McBride quickly took to X and wrote, “I was presented with an opportunity to perform at a nonpartisan event, but that turned out to be misleading.” Rapper Young MC also informed his fans on Facebook that he will not be performing, writing, “I hope to perform in D.C. in the near future at an event that is not so politically charged.”
