The View Panel Says Donald Trump Proved Why Republicans Privately Criticize Him

President Donald Trump announced via Truth Social that he was canceling a planned Capitol Hill signing of a bipartisan housing bill. The hosts of The View said this sudden reversal explains why “so many” Republicans criticize him in private.

The View’s Alyssa Farah Griffin argues that Republicans privately criticize Donald Trump when he undermines their agenda

Trump wrote on June 24, “Today’s Housing News Conference and Signing is hereby cancelled until such time as we pass the desperately needed SAVE AMERICA ACT, which I consider to be a National Emergency. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” The announcement came just over an hour before he was set to arrive at the Capitol to sign the bill into law.

Commenting on the cancellation, The View co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin said, as quoted by The Wrap, “This is why so many Republicans on Capitol Hill — and I know so many of them — publicly are like ‘We love this president, he’s amazing!’ and privately, they bash him.”

“He hurts their agenda. They’re going into the midterms with nothing to brag about; this would’ve been something to tell their constituents they did, and he pulled the rug out from under them,” the 37-year-old added.

Griffin said that Trump’s press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, had praised the bill just a day earlier as one of the most significant pieces of legislation in American history, only for Trump to reject it 24 hours later. To which, Sunny Hostin added, “It just goes to show you, he really doesn’t care about affordability.” She also stressed that Trump did not care about real Americans, the healthcare crisis, rising costs, or people struggling to afford basic necessities.

According to the BBC, the bill, known as the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, is designed to lower housing costs and expand housing supply since a lack of housing supply has been a major obstacle to homeownership. The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act would require Americans to show identification and proof of citizenship in order to vote.
