Love Island USA contestant Alannah Keyser has faced major backlash thanks to resurfaced footage and old social media posts. She was booted from the villa because of the language she had previously used. Now the former bombshell is addressing the backlash and explaining her side of the story on social media.
The former contestant sparked backlash when a video from her past resurfaced
Fans met Alannah during Casa Amor’s Sunday episode. Unfortunately, within hours of her debut on the show, fans discovered a video of her allegedly using the N-word while singing along to a Roddy Ricch song. Internet sleuths also found an old comment where she used the word again.
This led to fans calling for producers to remove her from the villa immediately. This is not without precedent. Former islanders who also were discovered exhibiting racist behavior were also ejected from the villa.
Vasana Montgomery was also removed from Season 8 after using a racist slur. And in Season 7, Yulissa Escobar was removed from the villa. A few weeks later, Cierra Ortega was also sent home for racist posts.
Alannah took to TikTok to address her removal. She explained the video in question was “six years old” and explained that she no longer uses that language and that it is “no longer in her vocabulary.” She also apologized to those who were offended by her behavior.
However, after apologizing, Alannah pushed back a bit on her portrayal on the show. She claimed the edit is not reflecting her full experience in the villa. She reminded people that “reality TV is heavily edited and my chats/kisses with the other boys” were not aired.
Alannah ended her statement saying the video was cut short but adding the text, “It’s always been in my nature to spread positivity and help others & I will continue to do so.”
Peacock confirmed that Alannah will no longer appear on the show.
Love Island USA is available to stream on Peacock.
