Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has been taken to the hospital after reportedly suffering acute heart failure. The 74-year-old is currently held at Rikers Island in New York City following his 2025 sexual assault conviction.

A representative said Harvey Weinstein was hospitalized due to “severe breathing issues,” reports Deadline. The outlet reported that Weinstein is “resting and recovering in the hospital and will stay for at least the next few weeks” following a decline in his health over the past week. TMZ reported that he suffered heart failure linked to pneumonia and was taken to the Bellevue Hospital Prison Ward in Manhattan.
Weinstein was previously diagnosed with cancer. In 2024, it was reported that he had chronic myeloid leukaemia, as per The Sun. Weinstein said earlier this year that prison was “a slow march toward death,” telling the court, “I know I was unfaithful, I know I acted wrongly, but I never assaulted anyone.”
According to RadarOnline, Weinstein, who was once known as among the most influential movie producers of the 20th and 21st centuries, has been accused by more than 100 people of rape or sexual misconduct, with some allegations going back to the 1970s. The allegations triggered the global #MeToo movement and led to widespread public discussion.
He has consistently denied all allegations against him. In 2020, Weinstein was convicted of raping actress Jessica Mann at a New York hotel, reports The Guardian. He received a 23-year prison sentence, which was subsequently overturned by the Court of Appeal in 2024. Weinstein is now scheduled to appear in Manhattan Supreme Court in September 2026 for a sentencing hearing tied to his 2025 conviction for sexual assault of production assistant Miriam Haley.
