Bill Clinton’s July 4th Message Was Really a Warning About Donald Trump

Bill Clinton’s message on America’s 250th Anniversary wasn’t really about the country. The former president posted a pointed July 4th statement that took aim at those currently in power without ever naming names.

Bill Clinton accused those in power of threatening democracy and enriching allies

Former President Bill Clinton accused those in power of threatening democratic institutions and enriching themselves. Clinton posted a statement to X marking the nation’s 250th birthday on Saturday. He warned that the United States was experiencing “another period of deep division.” The former president urged Americans to reject division and embrace the country’s founding ideals.

Clinton did not mention President Donald Trump by name in his remarks. His wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, lost to Trump in the 2016 presidential election. Clinton targeted federal enforcement actions in his statement. “The people in charge have unleashed masked agents on American communities to seize people from their homes, workplaces and the street,” he said.

The former president also criticized recent military actions taken by the administration. “They have started an unconstitutional war on a whim, with no clear objectives or exit strategy,” Clinton stated. He added there was “zero regard for the consequences to the lives of millions of people around the world.”

Clinton then broadened his criticism to include the judiciary and Congress. “With the help of lifetime appointees to the Supreme Court and a compliant Congress, they have weaponized government to settle personal scores, prosecute enemies, stamp out free speech,” he said. He further accused leaders of making “the federal government a new profit center for themselves and their allies.”

Meanwhile, Trump presided over separate America250 festivities in Washington, D.C. He touted what he called America’s “Golden Age” during his Independence Day address. Trump highlighted his administration’s accomplishments alongside the country’s economic outlook, Fox News reported. He also criticized progressive Democrats while promoting border security and election integrity measures. Clinton encouraged Americans to value common purpose over political grievance as the nation enters its next 250 years.
