She’s back — well, sorta kinda. Taylor Frankie Paul is filming for The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 5, but there’s a serious caveat. She’s not filming any real scenes. She’s just doing the opening credits. Yes, really. Here’s what you need to know about her not-so-big return to reality TV.
The SLOMW star will only appear briefly for Season 5
According to a report from TMZ, Taylor is set to film the intro to SLOMW Season 5 over the next two days, but other than that, she won’t be appearing in the season or sharing scenes with the rest of the cast.
If you’re reading this and wondering, “Well, what’s the point?” Please know that you’re not alone. But either way, it’s a major update considering how much Taylor’s off-camera drama has affected the production of the series.
As you’ll recall, SLOMW Season 5 was derailed, and production was paused back in March following an explosive fight between Taylor and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen. Since then, she and Dakota have exchanged domestic violence accusations and found themselves deadlocked in a messy custody battle over their son, Ever.
On top of that, Taylor’s ex-husband, Tate Paul, filed for a temporary restraining order against her earlier this summer and petitioned for sole custody of their two kiddos. The motion was ultimately denied.
Earlier this month, Taylor revealed that she checked into a rehab facility to address her mental health. She opened up about the decision on Instagram.
“I knew that I was in a spot to take a step back and be like, ‘Okay, we need to reset,'” she explained to her followers. “But facilities are not just for substance. There are a list of reasons why people go into that. Number one priority was a reset for my mental health.”
Throughout Taylor’s dramatic spring and summer, SLOMW producers have signaled that the door was open to her returning, even as it remained unclear whether her castmates felt the same way. Now, at least, she’s dipping her toes back into the reality TV waters. If Hulu greenlights a Season 6, perhaps she’ll do more than just the opening credits.
