The Real Housewives of Orange County has returned and brought Vicki Gunvalson with it. Season 20 has barely begun, but Vicki’s already suing someone for allegedly ruining her reputation.
The OG of the OC is back, and she’s coming in hot.
Apparently, Vicki is taking a former financial adviser to court, claiming he besmirched her good name, as well as costing her a lot of money.
Vicki Gunvalson’s lawsuit and reputation battle explained
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the founder of Coto Insurance is suing Gary Vyneman and his financial management company. In her suit, Vicki claims that Gary spoke poorly about her to a mutual client, Diane Field. The result was not only damage to her reputation, but Vicki also lost a pile of cash. Ultimately, Vicki claims that Gary’s badmouthing caused Vicki to be sued for millions.
Allegedly, the issue began when Gary convinced Diane that Vicki had given her poor financial advice and encouraged her to sue. However, Vicki claims that everything Gary said about her was a lie and denied any wrongdoing.
The background story is that Diane and her husband Gary Fields had built a $6 million fortune, primarily by investing in the stock market. When she was referred to Vicki, the OC business woman supposedly suggested annuities as an investment opportunity.
Though she actually preferred to stay in the stock market, which she understood, Vicki’s business partner allegedly persuaded Diane to invest with Allianz annuities. It’s claimed they also talked her into purchasing a life insurance policy that she didn’t realize would cost her $300,000 a year.
Now Vicki has filed a countersuit against Gary. She’s accusing him of making false and misleading statements about her and her company. She also maintains that the financial advice she gave Diane was sound.
Her lawsuit is seeking unspecified damages.
