Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s meeting with King Charles reportedly did not go as expected. The meeting took place when Harry visited the UK for his one-year countdown to the Invictus Games, scheduled to be held in Birmingham next year. Notably, Markle and the couple’s children, Archie and Lilibet, did not join him initially due to security reasons. However, Harry, Markle, and the kids later travelled to meet the King at his Gloucestershire residence, Highgrove House. There, they were hosted by the King and Queen.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly had a messy meeting with King Charles
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s meeting with King Charles reportedly was not a smooth encounter. As per Express.co.uk, Charles was meeting his grandchildren for the first time since the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.
TalkTV host Kevin O’Sullivan discussed the private royal reunion that Buckingham Palace confirmed took place on Friday. O’Sullivan addressed this on Tuesday, July 14: “Suddenly, it’s all up in the air, but they managed to fly in Meghan, Archie and Lilibet from Portugal. We didn’t get to see them. They went straight to Highgrove and at last the King got to see his grandchildren. But it was all just a mess, wasn’t it?”
Journalist and royal biographer Angela Levin echoed O’Sullivan’s words. Levin revealed what her sources told her: “It was a mess. What is very interesting about it is, the King insisted Camilla would be with him. Camilla is very particular about how people talk to him, and particularly Harry.”
Levin insinuated that the Sussexes were disappointed that their much-awaited meeting with King Charles was not smooth sailing. She remarked: “The two of them could not do what they wanted. Harry had sent in a list of what he wanted. He stayed in one of the palaces. Everything was going to be what they wanted. They didn’t get a thing.”
Levin believes that the Sussexes must have absolutely “hated it” and that there might have been a vague conversation but “not very warm.” Katie Nicholl, Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent, shared that the palace will not divulge details of the meeting to the public. A source disclosed to Nicholl that the King was “adamant” about keeping the meeting private. Moreover, Harry “assured” the King that he would not speak about the meeting publicly.
