One of the contestants on the Dancing with the Stars spinoff series Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro was unexpectedly eliminated due to an accident. During a group routine practice, Stephani Sosa, pro Ezra Sosa’s sister, accidentally hit contestant Natalie Jolley in the face.
The hit caused Natalie’s eye to swell shut and forced her to leave for emergency medical treatment.
The Dancing with the Stars hopeful had to exit the competition after a nasty accident
The Next Pro is already heating up, and the battle is unlike any fans have seen before. This is because all the contestants are professional dancers competing for a spot as the new Dance Pro on the popular DWTS franchise.
However, despite being professionals, accidents can still happen. Dancing can result in several unexpected injuries, and that’s what happened on the Monday, July 27 episode of the show. The remaining 10 dancers were doing a group routine choreographed by Britt Stewart.
During practice, Stephani accidentally hit Natalie in the face. Natalie sobbed in pain while medical staff checked on her, and they revealed that her eye had swollen shut and she was having trouble breathing. She said she felt dizzy, and paramedics eventually took her to the hospital by ambulance for treatment. Stephani, on the other hand, expressed her concern.
“I don’t know what happened. The dance was moving so quickly, and Natalie got hit in the face,” she said. “I hate being the one that caused that. Like, I just feel horrible. I know she’s worked really hard to be here. I hope she’s okay.”
Eventually, the other dancers performed the routine for the judges, and Tristen Sanders and Nina Mayster were the weakest. They became team captains for the weekly showcase. After the showcase performance, Selena Hamilton and Tristen Sanders were up for elimination.
However, that’s when Shirley Ballas revealed that neither of them would be going home. Unfortunately, doctors did not medically clear Natalie to return, and she was eliminated. Host and former contestant, fan-favorite Robert Irwin, welcomed Natalie to the stage to say farewell.
“I’m really sad and disappointed I won’t be able to continue in this competition,” she said. “But the most important thing is just to take care of my body so I can dance again.”
Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and streams on Hulu.
