“Missing Person” posters pranking Mitch McConnell have surfaced across Washington, D.C. Pranksters put up the flyers to mock the U.S. senator, who has been out of public sight since his hospitalization last month.
Mitch McConnell hit with ‘missing person’ posters around DC
Pranksters have put up several “MISSING PERSON” flyers, jokingly looking for information about Senator Mitch McConnell. The Kentucky Republican has not been seen in public for over a month after he was hospitalized in June.
The posters feature a photo of McConnell in a hospital bed, a description that reads, “84 years old. 5’9 feet. Turtle-like.” The pranksters added, “Known for: Blocking something in the Senate. Distinguishing features: Tortoise like appearance.”
According to photos released by the anti-Trump political group Save America Movement, they pasted the flyers on poles outside the Capitol and near an emergency room.
In a recent statement given to The Independent, a spokesperson for SAM said, “We put those flyers up because this has gotten absurd.” They added, “For more than a month now, the senior senator from Kentucky has not cast a vote, has not appeared for the work of the chamber, and has not, in any provable or functional sense, represented the four and a half million people who sent him there.”
McConnell’s office has released the senator’s health update in a statement on Monday. “I’m still working hard to get back to my full schedule of work in the Senate and in Kentucky, keeping up with intense physical therapy per my doctors’ orders,” the senator said. “As always, I appreciate all of your continued well wishes, and I’m looking forward to getting back to the Senate and to Kentucky soon.”
The statement also came with a note from the Office of the Attending Physician (OAP). According to his physicians, McConnell “has maintained a strenuous course of physical therapy and rehabilitation, including multiple sessions a day designed to rebuild strength and reduce the risk of future falls.”
Doctors have not yet cleared McConnell to resume his duties at the Senate. His office has not provided a timeline for his return as well.
