Now one of Wells’ friends’ attorneys states that his client is in danger because of false accusations. He also refuted several viral claims that have been around since Wells’ death. The attorney claimed his client will file a lawsuit against individuals who keep spreading the allegations.
Attorney Russell Latino says the woman with Bart Edmiston Jr. is not Katie McCormick
According to TMZ, Attorney Russell Latino said an old high school photo of Bart Edmiston Jr. with a young woman has fueled false speculation online. He said that the woman in the photo is not Katie McCormick, even though some social media users have suggested otherwise. Latino also stated that Bart never dated Katie and didn’t realize who she was before Nolan Wells passed away. He said the rumors on the internet were entirely false.
Latino also denied claims that Bart had any role in Nolan’s death. He said Bart helped a boat in distress and fully cooperated with investigators. Bart provided investigators with access to his boat, GPS records, and phone, the attorney said. Those are indications that Bart has cooperated with authorities during the investigation, Latino said.
The attorney said Bart now plans to sue people who continue spreading what his family calls “wholly fabricated” claims. Latino also revealed that Bart received a “credible death threat yesterday” because of the online speculation. The threat occurred because of false information that spread through social media, he said. The attorney said the situation has become serious for Bart and his family.
Latino said the FBI, along with state and local law enforcement agencies, has received information about the reported threat. The lawyer has consistently denied the online rumors that Bart was connected to Nolan’s death. The investigation into Nolan Wells’ death remains ongoing, and authorities have not announced any charges against Bart in connection with the case.
