Ariana Grande’s mother, Joan Grande, showed her support after the 33-year-old pop star announced plans to step away from public life. She shared words of encouragement on one of Ariana’s latest Instagram posts amid ongoing scrutiny and speculation about the singer’s appearance.

The support came shortly after Ariana released her eighth studio album, Petal, on July 31. On August 3, Joan praised the singer after Ariana shared some photos from her new music video on Instagram, including the ones that featured Grande covered in fake blood. Her 69-year-old mother commented, as stated by People, “You are magnificent… and this video is incredible!! I love it, and I love you more!!!”
The mother also expressed, “Taking care of yourself, your mind, and your heart is never something you should have to apologise for.” She further stated that she was proud of Ariana for knowing when to step back, take a breath, and protect her peace. She added that Ariana gives so much of herself to the world and that it was time for her to rest, reports The Tab.
A representative for the singer told People on August 2 that she “will be taking a step back from visibility.” Adding, “She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny.”
The representative continued, saying that the tour, which started in Oakland, California, on June 6 and will conclude on September 1, had been a beautiful experience for Grande. The singer also confirmed that her decision wasn’t reactive but something she had planned for a long time during her August 3 show in Chicago. Grande has stepped away from the West End revival of Sunday in the Park with George. She was set to appear with Jonathan Bailey.
