Perez Hilton‘s family has shared new details about the livestream incident that led to the celebrity blogger being hospitalized. This happened earlier this week. In a statement released on Thursday, they revealed that his children, niece, and sister were inside the home shortly before the incident.

According to TMZ, the family informed that they immediately left the house after realizing Hilton was experiencing a severe mental health crisis. “Just minutes before the public livestream incident, Perez’s children, niece, and sister were inside the home,” the family’s statement read. “When it became clear that Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis, they immediately fled to protect the children from witnessing any further trauma.”
The family said their main priority is now helping the children recover from the experience. So that they could return home safely.
“Our highest priority right now is helping the children begin to heal from what they experienced,” the statement continued. “An important part of that process is allowing them to safely return home and begin rebuilding a sense of security and normalcy.”
They also asked the media, photographers, and the public to respect the family’s privacy while the children recover.
The update comes after Hilton was taken to a Miami-area hospital on Tuesday following the TikTok stream. His family said he has since been able to communicate with them, describing that as a hopeful sign.
In a separate message shared on Hilton’s website, his family and team thanked supporters for their concern.
“We can confirm that Perez is receiving medical care, and our family’s focus right now is on his well-being,” the statement said. “We kindly ask that you respect Perez’s privacy, as well as the privacy of his family, during this difficult time.”
They added that they would share further updates if and when they were able to do so.
