Prince William Fears Harry’s Next King Charles Move Could Reopen Old Wounds — Insider

Prince Harry reportedly left Prince William uneasy about a possible public reunion with King Charles at the 2027 Invictus Games. The Duke of Sussex was said to be eager for his father to attend the Birmingham event.

However, insiders claimed William feared another visible rapprochement could “reopen old family wounds.” The concern centered on palace optics, Sussex publicity, and whether private royal contact should become a photographed public moment.

Prince William fears public Prince Harry and King Charles reunion at Invictus Games, claims insider

According to a RadarOnline report, Prince Harry wants King Charles to attend the upcoming Invictus Games, with Birmingham set to host the 2027 event. If Charles makes an appearance, it could result in the first public father-son photos since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022.

The possibility comes after Harry’s private reunion with Charles at Highgrove, which reportedly involved Meghan Markle, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet. Sources claimed Prince William understood his father’s desire to rebuild ties with Harry. However, he remained wary of any reconciliation turning into “a public spectacle.”

Meanwhile, a palace insider described a potential appearance by Charles and Harry as “a major development.” The source pointed out that Harry founded Invictus to support wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans.

According to the insider, a high-profile appearance could bolster Harry’s public standing as he campaigned for improved UK security arrangements. The source also claimed that the monarch’s presence would bring “enormous international exposure” to Invictus, while creating new images of the father and son after years of reports about their strained relationship.

However, the report suggested that William’s concerns stemmed from the family’s past fallout. RadarOnline referenced Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” as well as the Sussexes’ Netflix series and their interview with Oprah Winfrey. The source claimed William wanted to shield his family from “further controversy” following Harry’s public allegations.

Despite the tensions, King Charles has reportedly maintained private contact with his younger son. Another source said palace officials now face a key question: whether their meetings should remain “behind closed doors” or evolve into public royal appearances. William was reportedly comfortable with private contact but opposed to “highly publicized events.”
