After moving to the US in early 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made several explosive claims about the Royal Family. From their infamous Oprah Winfrey interview to Harry’s memoir, Spare, the couple’s claims have alienated them from the British royals.
In her new Daily Mail feature, Sarah Vine accused Prince Harry of trying to “burn the place down.” She claimed that the couple showed “a complete lack of emotional intelligence.” According to her, they failed to see how their actions affected the Royal Family due to their “sense of entitlement.”
“For two people who claim to be so in tune with their feelings and those of others, time and again they have demonstrated a complete lack of emotional intelligence, combined with a weapons-grade sense of entitlement,” Vine wrote. “They are so wrapped up in their own drama, so insulated in their bubble of privilege, they fail to realise how thoroughly charmed their existence is. And that is a most unattractive trait.”
As for the Duke of Sussex, the expert noted, “At a time when the Royal Family needed Harry most, he not only slammed the door in their face, but he also tried to burn the place down on the way out.” Vine continued, “No one is suggesting he doesn’t have a right to be hurt – but weaponising your pain as he has done only perpetuates the cycle of sadness.”
Vine said Harry might have found a way to “heal and move on” with someone who understood his pain. She also claimed that Markle “was never going to be that person.”
