RHOBH Alum Mauricio Umansky Teases Potential Future Run for LA Mayor

Mauricio Umansky may have a new career move in mind someday. The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum has opened up about possibly running for mayor of Los Angeles. He claims to have considered the idea but believes that it is not the right time. Mauricio also revealed what his political platform might look like.

Mauricio Umansky says he may eventually trade real estate for a shot at Los Angeles City Hall

On Monday’s episode of the “Money Rehab” podcast, Mauricio spoke with host Nicole Lapin about the concept. “I’m not running for mayor yet. I never said never,” he said. Mauricio explained that he has “thought about it a lot.” He, however, doesn’t think it’s the right time for him to go into politics.

Mauricio said politics feels “so extremist” at the moment. He also disclosed that he is a registered independent. He said his platform would focus on “finding balance and finding that middle.” Still, he noted that he leans more toward the Republican side when it comes to finances.

Mauricio also spoke about what he would be paying attention to if he ever ran for office. He said he would back Reaganomics and provide Hollywood with greater incentives. He feels that Los Angeles has lost too much of Hollywood and believes it needs to bring more filming back to the city. He also warned that tourism could suffer if people stop filming movies and TV shows in the city.

Running against the Democrats would be a significant hurdle, Mauricio said. He stated that Democrats make “unsustainable” promises to win elections. The real estate businessman also suggested that he could help “make L.A. great again.” For now, Mauricio has not announced a campaign, but his comments leave the door open to a future run.
