During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Page Six Radio, Kloots spoke with Danny Murphy and Evan Real. During the conversation, one of the hosts asked Kloots how she and Jowsey became so close. She explained that they first met while Jowsey was in New Zealand as his father was dying and “connected over grief.” She said experiencing grief can create an immediate connection with someone going through a similar loss.
“It’s like a moth to a flame when you have somebody in your life that’s also going through it and you’re just like, ‘Wait a second, how can I help you? How can I be there for you?’ And that was me with him. And so he was in New Zealand watching his dad die and I was just sending him voice notes back and forth,” she said.
According to MarieClaire, Kloots and Jowsey first crossed paths through Dancing With the Stars, despite appearing in different seasons. Kloots competed in Season 30, followed by Jowsey in Season 32.
Moreover, Kloots said they stayed in touch as she supported Jowsey through his loss. After he returned to Los Angeles, they became “instant besties,” spending time together at concerts and on hikes. When Jowsey told Kloots he was joining Let’s Marry Harry, she joked that she had to be there. She said she couldn’t miss it if he was going to get married.
